Biography

Gregory Ray is the Don and Margi Berens Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, part of the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. At Cornell, Ray spearheaded initiatives such as the Life Sciences Technology Innovation Fellows Program (initially established as the BioEntrepreneurship Initiative), the Green Technology Innovation Fellows Program, and the Center for Regional Economic Advancement’s Sprint program.

He also serves as the co-program director of the Johnson Summer Startup Accelerator (JSSA) and as an instructor in the eLab student Accelerator program. Outside of Cornell, Ray is an instructor in the National Science Foundation I-Corps program as well as an active angel investor with a focus on nutrition and healthcare delivery.

Before coming "home" to Cornell in late 2020, he served in many roles at Creative Destruction Lab (CDL), a program for early-stage technology. While at CDL, he supported programming at various business schools, including Toronto-Rotman, NYU-Stern, and Georgia Tech-Scheller.

Ray seeks to cultivate a culture of entrepreneurship and creativity among scientists, engineers, alumni, and students, empowering them to translate their ideas into viable ventures. At the Johnson School, he is exceptionally dedicated to developing the human capital that will drive the next generation of technology and science-based companies.

He holds a BA in biochemistry from Hamilton College, an MBA from the University of Toronto, and a PhD in molecular biology from Cornell University.
