David Breazzano received his Johnson MBA in 1980. His sons Jeremy, Michael, and Matthew also earned Johnson MBAs in 2011, 2013, and 2016, respectively.
Mr. Breazzano is a co-founder of DDJ Capital Management and has more than 40 years of experience in high-yield, distressed, and special situations investing. He began his career at New York Life as an investment analyst, then became a high-yield analyst and vice president at First Investors Asset Management, with over $1 billion in high-yield assets under management. He went on to serve as a vice president and portfolio manager at T. Rowe Price Associates. He was a vice president and portfolio manager in the high-income group at Fidelity Investments, where he was a portfolio manager of the Fidelity Capital & Income Fund, one of the largest high-yield funds in existence at that time. He also co-managed Fidelity’s distressed investing operation. He authored the textbook chapter titled “Distressed Investing” in Leveraged Financial Markets: A Comprehensive Guide to High-Yield Bonds, Loans, and Other Instruments, and co-authored the chapter “Trading in the Distressed Market” in Investing in Bankruptcies and Turnarounds. Mr. Breazzano serves on the board of directors for the Children’s Trust Fund (MA) and the board of trustees of Union College.
Mr. Breazzano serves as a member of Cornell University’s board of trustees, as well as the SC Johnson College of Business Leadership Council and the Johnson Advisory Council (past chair). He is Cornell Foremost Benefactor and Johnson Hall of Honor recipient. In 2017, he donated the lead gift for the beautiful Breazzano Family Center for Business Education in Ithaca’s Collegetown.
